He obtained a Bachelor's degree in Medicine and Surgery from King Saud University in 2006, then he completed his training in Canada and obtained the Canadian Board certification in General Psychiatry from McGill University in 2012. Then he completed a fellowship in geriatric psychiatry from the University of Toronto in 2014.
He worked as a consultant psychiatrist and adjunct clinical assistant professor at the University of Calgary in Canada from 2017 to 2020, where he supervised the training of medical students and trainees of the Canadian Psychiatry Residency Program, as well as working in the Department of Adult and Geriatric Mental Health as a consultant psychiatrist.
