Claire Issa, MD, C.C.D graduated from the Lebanese university Medical School in 2006 after which she received her Internal Medicine residency training at the American University of Beirut - Medical Center (AUBMC) in 2009 followed by a fellowship in Endocrinology and metabolism at AUBMC in 2011.
Dr. Claire Issa has been practicing as an Endocrinology and metabolism consultant physician since 2011 caring for outpatient and in-patient endocrinology patients at Ain Wazein Medical Village (AWMV), a 170-bed tertiary teaching hospital. Dr. Issa was also a lecturer in the Lebanese University School of Nursing and was involved in the teaching and training of medical students and internal medicine residents. Dr Issa was the coordinator of the Residency Program in AWMV from 2017 to 2019. Dr Issa was appointed head of the osteoporosis clinic at AWMV since 2011 and is also a certified clinical densitometrist (C.C.D) since 2015, responsible for reporting and quality assurance of bone densitometry results as well as treating osteoporosis patients.
Furthermore, Dr Issa is interested in clinical research and has authored several publications in international peer-review journals in the areas of diabetes mellitus and osteoporosis. She was also the primary investigator in several international phase 3 and phase 4 clinical trials.
Dr Issa’s main clinical interests in addition to diabetes and thyroid diseases are obesity, weight loss management and osteoporosis.
