Dr. Hussam Faleh Al-Faleh is a consultant in cardiovascular medicine and a professor in the Department of Cardiac Sciences at the College of Medicine, King Saud University. He graduated from King Saud University, then completed his training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at the university of Alberta in Canada, earning the Canadian Fellowship and the American Board certification in both specialties. He further subspecialized in Interventional Cardiology, obtaining a fellowship from Dalhousie University in Canada, and a fellowship in Advanced Cardiac Echocardiography from the University of Ottawa in Canada. He has worked as a consultant at King Saud University Medical City since 2005. During his tenure, he held several administrative roles including head of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab and the Adult Cardiology Unit. He also supervised the Saudi Fellowship Training Program in Adult Cardiovascular Diseases at King Saud University. He served as President of the Saudi Heart Association, the leading scientific body for all adult and pediatric cardiac medicine and surgery specialties, and was a board member prior to that. He has been involved in several national projects related to heart diseases, including leading the team that developed the first national guidelines for treating acute coronary syndrome. These guidelines were adopted by the Saudi Heart Association, the Saudi Health Council, and the Council of Health Insurance. He also led a team that developed certification criteria for designating healthcare facilities as Centers of Excellence for Acute Coronary Syndrome treatment, which were implemented in several institutions. He has also contributed to the health transformation initiative within the Ministry of Health and continues to be actively involved. Dr. Al-Faleh has authored and co-authored over 55 peer-reviewed scientific publications. His research interests include acute coronary syndrome (particularly in patients in Saudi Arabia), heart failure, and valvular heart diseases.
